End of Summer update and Egg-flation

We will be CLOSED on Sunday September 6th for Labour Day (Friday and Saturday will be regular hours, 11am – 5pm)

Thank you to everyone who has supported us this summer. We have learned so much during this exceptional time, and every day we’re brainstorming new ways to stay sustainable, flexible and happy in this brave new world.

Top of the list for us is carving out time for rest (or at least the Wylie’s version of rest), so we have decided to treat the Monday and Tuesday of each week as a weekend away from the shop. All appointments outside of store hours will be taken on either Wednesday or Thursday after 11am. Regular store hours are still Friday – Sunday, 11am – 5pm.

Changing our opening time from nine to eleven was absolutely necessary as we became very short staffed after covid (less hands means morning chores take longer), and so thank you to everyone for being so understanding of the constantly evolving schedule here at WHS.

We’ve also realized that our eggs are too cheap! With the cost of labour increasing (the hens are unionizing) we will be raising our price per dozen from $6.50 to $7.00.

And of course the end of summer means preparing for this year’s Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society Yearling and Mixed Sale. This year we are very excited to be bringing three exceptional yearlings. Two colts; Trevor the Tall (Hip #23) and Jose Jose (Hip #60), and one filly; Sasha (Hip #28). Click here for the consignment info, photos and videos.

Do keep checking our website and social media. We hope to stay on top of updating our online presence and share bits of life, good and bad, here on the farm.

“The ultimate goal of farming is not the growing of crops, but the cultivation and perfection of human beings.” – The One Straw Revolution, by Masanobu Fukuoka
