WHITE HOUSE STABLES as a Sunny Stock Exchange!

The store sees bi weekly fluctuations in prices for the Hi Pro livestock feeds, often up but sometimes they go down! We are a stock exchange that celebrates a drop in price.

This week, Beet pulp dropped by $3.50 a bag with the 2025 crop arriving, it had climbed as supplies got shorter. We also saw less significant drops on sheep, goat and poultry feeds.

Another stock exchange so to speak was the arrival of our last 2025 lambs in boxes for our freezers.. It will be another year before that supply line gets restocked, as first we winter the ewes, then lamb in March followed by weaning in June. Harvest will be fall of 2026

So far this year, our hay supply and prices have stayed pretty steady thank goodness, as this is most livestock owners biggest yearly expense.

Happy Halloween

This Halloween themed photo of the not so white house was taken after all the film crew had gone home for the night, but before the lighting crew removed their lights.

Next filming closure of the store will likely be mid November but will post exact changes once its confirmed.

In the meantime all our ewes have blue bums, so lambing will likely be a 16 day period starting at the end of February just in time for the spring grass. The ram is now sporting a red marker in case someone didn’t catch first time around.

If anyone would like to buy lamb, by the piece, 1/2 lamb or whole lamb, we have freezers filling up this week. The beef has almost all gone, just a few roasts, ground and stewing beef until the next harvest which will be going in the freezers in the New Year.

To get spring lambs we rent a ram to service our ewes. To keep track of who gets bred, and when, we use a marker on the ram, blue at the moment. After 15 days we will change colours so we catch if someone was re bred. This way we know when to start watching the ladies in the maternity stables at the end of February onwards
